House rules for our table — built for immersion, big moments, and smooth play.

House Rules

These rules exist to protect the vibe: cinematic, collaborative, and immersive. If something isn’t fun, we adjust.

Quick note: If a rule slows the scene, we make a fast ruling and move on. We can revisit between sessions.

⚔️Table Philosophy

  • Immersion over technical perfection.
  • Cinematic moments matter more than exact rule text.
  • If a rule slows the scene, we make a fast ruling and move on.

🎲Advantage & Creativity

  • Advantage does not stack (standard 5e rules apply).
  • Describe what your character is doing.
  • Clever positioning, bold tactics, or dramatic roleplay can earn advantage.
  • Make it cool. Earn the edge.

🩸Death & Danger

  • Standard 5e death saves apply.
  • Death is possible.
  • Recklessness has consequences.
  • Heroism is earned, not assumed.

🧠Knowledge & Lore

  • If you are proficient in a relevant skill, you automatically know common lore.
  • Rolls are for:
    • Rare knowledge
    • Hidden truths
    • Ancient secrets
  • We do not roll for obvious things.

💬No PvP

  • There is no player-vs-player conflict.
  • No stealing from party members.
  • No attacking party members.
  • No sabotaging the party.
  • Conflict between characters can exist — but it is narrative only.
  • We tell stories together. We do not compete.

💰Loot Is Shared

  • All treasure belongs to the party.
  • Loot is divided evenly.
  • Magic items are discussed and assigned based on usefulness.
  • If a character is physically absent in-game, they do not receive loot from that scene.
  • No secret hoards. No “I grab it first.”
  • The Lantern thrives on fellowship.

🗣️In-World Prejudice & Tone

This is a fantasy world. Characters may:

  • Hate dragons
  • Distrust elves
  • Mock rival kingdoms
  • Hold fictional cultural biases

Keep conflict in the world of the story — not in the real world.

🎭Inspiration

Inspiration is awarded for:

  • Playing your character’s flaws
  • Choosing drama over safety
  • Making bold, risky decisions
  • Deep immersion
  • You may use Inspiration after rolling but before the outcome is declared.

Absent Players

If you miss a session:

  • Your character fades into the background.
  • They are not placed in danger.
  • Major story choices will not be forced upon them.
  • They do not receive loot unless present in the scene.
